How To Do A CrossFit Muscle Up

There are over 176 different movements that are preformed in CrossFit. Here at CrossFit Downtown Heights, located between Downtown Tampa and Tampa Heights neighborhood, we strive to teach how to do every single one correctly. One of the most popular ones is the ring muscle up. A gymnastics movement that involves taking the body from a dead hang position, both hands on the rings. We use our hips to drive upward towards the sky, NOT pulling with our arms. Once our hips reach there peak height, your upper body must come through the rings head first, getting into the bottom of a ring dip position. Once here we can kip and drive our legs vertical, perform a strict dip to finish the muscle up. This is probably the most complicated movement in CrossFit, this is why when an athlete reaches their first one, it’s usually a VERY big deal and celebrated!
